3-0 Done (68)
A great start for the Red Dragons as John Toshack witnessed a thoroughly deserved victory, capped by three great goals.
Steve Evans saw a header cleared off the line early on, but he put Wrexham ahead with another header on 16 minutes from a Darren Ferguson cross.
Home goalkeeper Michael Ingham nearly gifted Grimsby an equaliser, but Chris Llewellyn's long-range header from a Ferguson cross doubled the lead.
A brilliant run on the right saw the ball played into Llewelleyn, who miss hit his effort, but did set up Matty Done's 68th-minute 20-yard strike which ended the game as a contest.
