WREXHAM goalscorer Steve Evans was very downhearted as he left the dressing rooms following the weekend draw against Macclesfield Town at the Racecourse.

"We needed the win and we just couldn't force it enough," he said.

"Yes I scored, but that only really made up for conceding earlier in the half.

"It was my fault they got that chance and so scoring at the other end only really evened things up.

"We were desperate to get the three points and looking at the other results today, that would have helped our cause.

"In the end we have failed to win today and without a win in five games, that's simply not good enough.

"Things certainly don't get any easier with a visit to Milton Keynes on Tuesday, but nobody expects us to get anything there, so maybe we might just be able to spring a surprise."
