Roberts: No Surrender!
SKIPPER and goalscorer Neil Roberts left no one in any doubt after the defiant Notts County victory that the players won't be giving up the ghost until the maths tells them otherwise this season.
"We're still in with a chance. We've been saying all week that it's not over yet and whether our performance is good, bad or indifferent we have to get results," he said.
"Last Sunday was a massive kick in the teeth, as much for the manner of the defeat as anything else, but we just have to keep going.
"Obviously we knew going into the game that we had to win. We probably cancelled each other out in the first half but in the second half we stood strong, defended well, and luckily for me the chance came along and I was able to take it.
"Hereford's going to be a really tough game. They're a team flying at the top so we have to go there and cause an upset."
So should Brian Little pick the youngsters again for the trip to Edgar Street? Roberts doesn't see why not.
"It can work both ways. We could put the experienced players back in and still come a cropper. I don't think you can really knock the gaffer for whatever he decides," said Neil.
"He wants to see if players can handle it and you've got to be able to handle yourself in places like Hereford, step up to the mark and be able to play against them.
"It's always nice to see young lads coming through and be given a chance. At the end of the day we have always been a club which has had to produce talent through the youth system.
"It's good for the young lads to come through and experience being on a winning side as well."
