NEIL Taylor was happy that we signed off the season with a win, not for himself, but for the fans who made the long trip across country to support the club.

"I'm glad we ended with a positive result," he said.

"Only for the fans though, not for ourselves, because at the end of the day it's only a consolation if you look at this season as whole.

"In terms of the fans, it was what we wanted to do, especially when you look at how many we brought with us.

"I don't think you would see that in League 1, let alone in League 2, which was brilliant and why we wanted to do that for them today."

While the win was welcome, Neil wasn't letting it mask any of the problems which have beset us this year:

"We did though show why we are down at the bottom of the table, as you can't score four goals every game in a season, it would be nice but you won't, so we can't carry on conceding sloppy goals.

"We wanted a cleansheet and at one stage we were looking good for one. They weren't really worrying us and we were looking good going forward.

"Yes, it was disappointing to concede, but it really is the story of our season."

The younger midfielder was though happy to see team mate Wes Baynes getting amongst the goals with two well taken free kicks:

"Wes can take the back off a ball and to be fair, he can hit it harder than anyone I know.

"The first we decided he was going to take, because you could see that if he slotted it there, then the keeper was in an awful position.

"Then for the second one I wanted it, but he said no and he's gone and spanked it through the wall - it was another great free kick.

"We had a number of chances from set plays and I thought we looked really dangerous, as Marc and Izzy worked hard up front."

The team also benefited from some positive play through the middle:

"In midfield both Conall and Levi put in a shift, while Flemo did the same when he came on. I think that was what the gaffer was asking for and what he wanted to see from us, to give him something to build on for next season.

"I think we responded well, even allowing for the silly goals.

"Not scoring enough and then conceding as we have done, it's just a recipe for disaster.

"We showed a bit of spirit today and I'm just glad we gave the fans four goals, which is what they really wanted."
