Dons Manager Picks Up Award
MILTON KEYNES DONS manager Paul Ince was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month for April.
Ince's side were in top form during April remaining undefeated in their final seven league games of the season. Wins over Lincoln City, Wrexham, Bradford City and Play Off contenders Stockport County helped the Dons to a total of 15 points from a possible 21. This superb unbeaten run culminated in Ince's men ending the season as champions of Coca-Cola League 2.
Also short-listed for the April award were Keith Hill of Rochdale, Graham Turner of Hereford United and Stockport County's Jim Gannon.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said:
"Paul Ince has enjoyed a fantastic season at MK Dons. They have been the form side for much of the season in League 2 and entered the final few weeks of the campaign as firm favourites to land the title. Their undefeated month saw them fend off the challenge of nearest rivals Peterborough United and lift the League 2 crown last weekend."
Tony Mowbray of West Bromwich Albion won the award in the Championship and Colin Calderwood of Nottingham Forest was given the League 1 accolade.
The decision to present the Coca-Cola Championship Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel headed by Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Richard Bevan, Chief Executive of the League Managers Association and James Williams, Head of Brand Experience, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
