FOLLOWING his return from international duty with Wales, centre half Steve Evans has been able to sit down with manager Brian Little and discuss terms for next season.

"We sorted things out pretty quickly and I'm glad it's all settled," said Steve, as he put pen to paper on a new deal.

"I was disappointed with the way things went last season and then it didn't help just sitting on the bench for the two recent Wales games.

"But I came back last week, had a chat with the boss and after a few days away with the family was happy to come in and sign on again for next season."

The player had been keeping an eye on events at the Racecourse while he was away and was happy to see some new faces arriving as the summer progresses.

"I remember Jefferson causing us all kinds of problems last season, while I know Simon has plenty of pace, so the pair should prove to be a handful in the Conference," he said.

"Paul Carden had a good time with Cambridge United last year and I believe he helped Chester get back into the League as well.

"After last season I know I shouldn't be, but I do feel we will have a good year, we are certainly due one.

"If we can get the momentum going, then I'm sure we will be up there challenging."

Steve has signed on for another season and there is an option for an additional year.

This brings to seven the number of players who have completed new deals with the club in the last few weeks.

In have come Paul Carden, Simon Brown and Jefferson Louis, while both Carl Tremarco and Steve have signed extensions, and trainees Chris Marriott and Chris Maxwell have accepted professional terms.
