Big Jefferson Louis gave another illustration against Blackpool of the physical attributes he will bring to Wrexham this season, and is happy with the way the pre-season is going, both personally and collectively

"I'm settling in well. They're a good bunch of lads, it's a great set-up and I'm enjoying it here. I'm happy with the way things are settling down on the pitch," he said.

"It's a pity we didn't win today but I'm happy that gradually we're getting better and better every game. That's what counts. The side is looking really strong physically at the moment. Basically it is a fitness thing, building up to the first game of the season."

So what can Wrexham fans expect of Louis next season?

"I hold up the ball, I can help it on and I can get in behind. I can run too, which is a bit different! People look at me and think I'm a big man so I'm not very quick, but I can run!

"Basically I can do most things a forward needs to do, but I haven't had my shooting boots on yet! I've been shanking shots and everything, but as the games go by my confidence will get better. I'm a bit rusty at the moment!

"My shooting isn't quite right and I'm rushing my shots a bit instead of taking my time.

"I did well in both games against Wrexham last season, but I'm playing for Wrexham now, and that's what counts. I want to help us get promotion.

"We've got a solid defence and that's very important, and we've got a great team spirit running all the way through the squad. I think that's key in the Conference. Good team spirit is essential if you want to get promoted."
