ROTHERHAM United boss Mark Robins last night confirmed that they will not be offering striker Drewe Broughton a deal with their club.

Broughton, 29, has been on trial with the Millers and played in last night's 2-1 friendly win over Scunthorpe United. Robins was impressed with his display but stated that a deal was not in the offing.

"I thought that Drewe was excellent," said Robins. "What you see is what you get with him, he wears his heart on his sleeve, he runs around and he runs the channels for us. I thought that he got hold of the ball and brought other players into play.

"I just felt that it didn't happen for him, as with everybody, in the first third of the game because everything was very narrow and passes were running two or three yards apart."

"I won't be perusing the situation with Drewe but I thank him for his efforts while he has been with us."

Last night the Millers did sign fellow trialist Rueben Reid and the former Plymouth man put pen-to-paper on a contract straight after the match.

Also on the look for new clubs are former Wrexham players Robert Duffy and Mark McGregor, with the pair turning out for Mansfield Town last Tuesaday night in a 1-0 victory over Ilkeston Town - indeed, Mark was on target with the decisive goal.

The Stags have already signed another former Racecourse favourite in Michael Blackwood.
