Match Preview - Bury
WREXHAM hope to maintain their unbeaten start under Brian Little when they face Bury on Tuesday evening.
The 0-0 draw at Rochdale lifted the Dragons off the bottom of the table at the expense of Lincoln City. Manager Little made just one change from the Chester game, bringing in Matty Done in the place of Eifion Williams and deploying Michael Proctor as a lone forward.
After losing five of their six away games in the league, the result at Spotland was certainly a step in the right direction. However, Dale boss Keith Hill was less than complimentary about the visiting side's tactics, describing Wrexham as 'negative'.
The match at Bury is the second of three consecutive away games for the Dragons, ahead of the trip to Dagenham and Redbridge next week.
Bury were in FA cup action at the weekend, and made it through to the Third Round after a narrow 1-0 victory over Exeter. Nicky Adams struck late on for the Shakers, and they will face a trip Norwich City in the next round.
Bury have won three out of eight league games at Gigg Lane this season, beating Accrington Stanley (2-1), Barnet (3-0) and Peterborough United (2-0).
Wrexham will have to be aware of the goal threat of Nicky Adams and Andy Bishop, who have scored 16 goals between them so far this season.
Midfielder Adams scored his fifth goal in eight games at the weekend, and poses Bury's main threat from midfield. The 21-year-old midfielder was a product of the Bolton Wanderers academy before joining Chris Casper's side three years ago.
Striker Andy Bishop has also impressed this season, and has been linked with a move away from Gigg Lane in the January transfer window. Crewe Alexandra and Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in the forward, who has scored 29 goals in his 18 months at the club.
Last Time Out
It was honours even when the sides last faced each other back in March. Lee McEvilly put the Dragons ahead, before a crazy second half. Reckless challenges from Chris Llewellyn and Ryan Valentine left Wrexham defending their lead with nine men. With seconds left, Glynn Hurst struck from close range and the points were shared.
Earlier in the season Bury took all three points at Gigg Lane. Dwayne Mattis scored early on for the home side and it proved enough against a makeshift Wrexham team including loan signings Maheta Molango, Kevin Smith and Jon Newby.
