Rochdale visit the Racecourse on Boxing Day as WREXHAM look to recover from another defeat which leaves them struggling in League Two's relegation zone.

Matt Crowell's early red card against Rotherham left the Dragons with a near impossible task in their last game, and the remaining ten men could not match an in-form Rotherham side, going down 3-0.

With two home games in succession, the Dragons will hope to pick up some points quickly but to do so they must tighten up at the back - they have conceded three goals in each of their last three games.

On Boxing Day they face a side who will be well rested - Rochdale played their last competitive game on 8th December, when they beat Rotherham 4-2. Since then they have had their last two matches postponed due to a frozen pitch at Spotland.

This break has seen them slip down a few places in the league, but they currently lie in a respectable 11th place, in touching distance of the playoff places should they win their games in hand.

Top scorer for Rochdale is striker Glenn Murray who has found the net six times this season. He is likely to be joined up front by former Wrexham striker Lee McEvilly or Adam Le Fondre, who Dragons fans may remember from his time at Stockport County.

Brian Little will be without Eifion Williams and Danny Williams through injury, and Matt Crowell after his dismissal last Saturday.

Rochdale will be without John Doolan who is struggling with a hamstring injury, as well as Chris Dagnall and David Perkins, the latter serving a suspension.

Last Time Out

The Dragons took a point from their visit to Spotland earlier this month. Rochdale dominated possession but could not break down a stubborn Wrexham defence, who kept a rare clean sheet away from home.

The away side's tactics did not get a glowing response from Dale boss Keith Hill, who stated 'if I was a football supporter I would not watch that type of game'.
