AFTER stretching their winless run to six games following the midweek defeat at MK Dons, WREXHAM will hope for better fortunes when they face local rivals Shrewsbury Town on Sunday (12.00pm).

With only five games left to play this season, only a win will do at the New Meadow as the Dragons look to close the gap on the likes of Notts County and Dagenham and Redbridge.

Shrewsbury Town currently sit in 18th position in League Two on 45 points, and will be looking for a win to secure their place in the division for another season.

Town have had a terrible 2008 thus far, winning just one game, a 2-0 victory over Morecambe back on 19th January.

Since then Paul Simpson's side have plummeted down the table and find themselves amongst the pack of sides hovering above the drop zone.

Marc Pugh's goal salvaged a point in midweek when the Shrews travelled to Morecambe. Carl Baker had put the home side ahead in the first half, but Pugh turned in Dave Hibbert's cross to level matters.

Brian Little will be able to recall Drewe Broughton for the derby game, after the striker was sidelined for the MK Dons game under the terms of his loan agreement.

Simon Spender should also return but Danny Sonner and Carl Tremarco are still missing through injury.

Last Time Out

Wrexham slumped to a 1-0 defeat when Shrewsbury Town visited the Racecourse back in November. Michael Symes scored the only goal of the game, reacting to a fortunate deflection off Steve Evans and firing under Anthony Williams.
