Match Preview - Notts County
WITH chances of survival fading fast, WREXHAM look to keep hopes alive as they take on Notts County at the Racecourse this Saturday (3.00pm).
Defeat against local rivals Shrewsbury Town last week has left Brian Little's side with a near-impossible task to retain their football league status.
With four games left to play, the Dragons lie nine points adrift of Dagenham & Redbridge in 22nd place. When a late season run might have seen us climb to safety, the side have only managed to muster two points from their last seven games.
Notts County will be looking to secure their league status for another year with victory at the Racecourse. Ian McParland's side have a five-point advantage over Mansfield Town, and victory this weekend would make them safe should Mansfield lose at home to Shrewsbury Town this weekend.
The Magpies gained a crucial victory last week when they defeated Accrington Stanley 1-0. Striker Ryan Jarvis, on loan from Championship side Norwich City, got the all-important goal just before half time.
County will have to improve their form away from home for their visit to the Racecourse however - McParland's side have the worst away record in the division with just 2 wins from 21 away games.
There are likely to be wholesale changes to the Wrexham squad for Saturday's game. Brian Little has already began his preparations for next season, and has released on-loan trio Drewe Broughton, Stuart Nicholson and Rob Duffy.
Levi Mackin and Michael Jones have returned from their loan spells and could return to the first team squad.
Last Time Out
The Dragons looked to be heading for a draw when they visited Meadow Lane in October. After Spencer Weir-Daley's early goal, Silvio Spann equalised with a stunning long range strike with 20 minutes left.
Spann then turned from hero to villain when he was red-carded for bringing down former Wrexham striker Hector Sam when clean through on goal. Neil MacKenzie then fired past an unconvincing wall to steal the points for the home side.
