Brian: I Thought That We Did Well Tonight
A missed Ryan Valentine penalty in the first half of the match was the closest that Wrexham came to breaking the deadlock in a 0-0 draw with Wycombe Wanderers at the Racecourse Ground but on the whole it was a lot better performance and one that deserved all three points which were on offer.
Reds boss Brian Carey was upbeat after watching a vastly improved display for his players, "It was a good performance and we should have won the game to be honest. Obviously we had the missed penalty and we had numerous other good opportunities particularly in the first half to have wrapped up the match.
"I thought that we did well tonight.
"It was the performance that we have been waiting for and credit to the lads for that, they really dug in, had a go and showed more of what we are about.
"The second half was a little bit cagey but overall I think that we deserved to win the game.
"The players don't play for themselves, they play for the team and they certainly did that tonight.
"The good thing tonight is that we continued doing what we set out to do from the beginning.
"We got a point out of the match but really I think that we should be sitting here with two more.
"The work rate of the two lads up front was terrific, they really showed none running as a pair and they found it really difficult to begin with.
"They (Wycombe) changed a bit in the second half and I thought that we got into areas but let ourselves down a little bit. You could say that it was a positive performance tonight and that was pleasing.
"I thought that the support we had from the stands was excellent tonight.
"Saturday is a cup tie and we can almost forget about the League for a few days and concentrate on Peterborough.
"I said to the lads tonight that you can go and almost play with a freedom if you like, don't worry about what has gone on and the same applies on Saturday.
"We have had a chat in the last few days about the future and the club are going to look for a senior, more experienced, person to come on board and the discussions about that will take place again tomorrow. As far as I am aware there are discussions tomorrow and an announcement whenever.
"We have struggled this season and if someone more senior, more experienced here to come on board, who will sort the club, out then so be it. I said that when I took over that it wasn't about me, it was about the club.
"Me staying on has been mentioned but we will have to wait and see. To attract the right man here, he may want to bring his own staff and his own ideas, we will just have to wait and see.
"Let's leave the speculation until we have something more concrete and we know who is going to be here."
