Brian: That Was Better
AFTER the poor display in midweek at Llanelli, the travelling Wrexham fans will at least have been more upbeat after witnessing a new look Dragons' line-up Grimsby Town, as was boss Brian Little:
"It's so disappointing that we still haven't come away with something, although it was a much better performance.
"We have introduced a number of new lads and there was a good spirit in the dressing room.
"We knew they'd try something different in the second half, and at time to time they got the better of us. But the display in the first half was more than competent.
"The early shot from Paul [Hall] looked like it was going in and how the keeper managed to keep it out I don't quite know.
"That would have made a difference for us, we needed one of them to go in.
"The first half I was very pleased and we have said in the dressing room that there is something to build on, but still the points are the most important thing and we haven't got any again.
"We are working hard and we are trying hard, and if we look at the last four games then we have been going close. It's not easy for our fans to swallow or me to take, but we will work again on things this week like team formation and we will try to improve."
As for new faces, the manager said that search was on going:
"We are in the market for more players, we are looking and I would hope to see more by next weekend.
"Our big problem is, and we have spoken to a lot of people, is that we are not winning games and at the bottom, so it's difficult to attract people in.
"But as you saw today, Paul has come in and done a great job for us.
"There are people out there who need and want to play first team football, and let's face it there can't be a bigger challenge than ours at the moment.
"So we are looking for those type of people, the ones that can help and want to help. We would be helping them by giving them first team football, but ultimately we have a goal of getting out of trouble.
"We still believe we can, because we are looking at a team today who have just won five games in a row and whilst they were stronger than us in the second half, for an away performance I thought it was pretty good."
