WREXHAM recorded yet another defeat as Burnley ran out 2-0 winners at Globe Way, Buckley, this evening.

A long range, speculative effort from Nick Platt after 23 minutes saw the vistors edge in front. His shot was from 25-yards and was not seen until late by keeper Michael Jones, by which time it was heading for the bottom corner of his net.

At the other end, Clarets' keeper Mark Crossley has saved with his feet from Marc Williams after only six minutes, a feat repeated by Jones when faced by American Danny Karbassiyoon on 16 minutes.

Jones then had to be quick to deny Robert Turner, saving well at the striker's feet.

In the second half, the first incident of note came when Levi Mackin picked up a booking on 74 minutes, but this sparked a period of activity to entertain the fans.

Matty Done broke down field a few minutes later and after a 50-yard run fired a shot that came back off a post and when set up from the reboun Marc Williams blazed high into the night sky.

Then on 79 minutes, Burnley doubled their lead when Karbassiyoon flighted over a left wing cross and Robert Turner beat Mike Williams to a header that he flashed passed the despairing Jones.

Coach Joey Jones was not too down hearetd at the final whistle:

"I honestly don't think we deserved to lose that one.

"We more than matched them in open play, but at half time I said we needed a bit more quality in the box and that was what they showed.

"With such a young side once again, I was pleased with our effort and determination."
