Pontin's League Cup
Wrexham 0 Tranmere Rovers 5

Goals -
0-1 Davies (19)
0-2 Jones (21)
0-3 Dickinson (32)
0-4 Jones (63)
0-5 Jennings (65)

Coach Joey Jones didn't mince his words, both at half time and then after the final whistle, following a very disappointing display against Tranmere Rovers as we meekly exited the League Cup.

"I know we were a young side," he said. "But that doesn't excuse the fact that we couldn't even do the simple things right.

"Passing and tackling seemed to be something alien to us!

"Looking through the side, I might excuse two or three of them, but overall I could have got lads from the Sunday League to have performed better.

"I did make a change at half time, but it could have been eight or nine of them to come off.

"To be fair to Chris Marriott when he came on, I thought he was probably our best player and the lad is still at school!"

Rovers had by far the better of the play and strolled to three goal lead by the break, one which they extended just after the hour mark with another quick fire double.

Overall, a night to forget quickly.
