Pontin's League Div 1 West
Blackpool 1  Wrexham 2

A strong Wrexham reserve line-up triumphed 2-1 by the seaside.  Marc Williams and Jon Walters, getting some invaluable match practice, got the goals.

Marc Williams forced the Reds in front early in the match, when he latched onto a Walters pass and fired under Blackpool's 15-year-old debutant keeper Mark Halstead.

Wrexham were well on top until just before the interval, the home side drew level after opening up the centre of the Wrexham defence, Cabbar Bagdagi finishing off from about 10-yards out..

Despite surviving a defelected shot onto their crossbar, the Welshmen were on top throughout most of the second half and they regained the lead when Jon Walters ran clear down the right hand channel before firing across Halstead and inside the far post.

Only their second League win of the season, it lifts the Reds back withing striking distance of Chester City and with a chance of pulling away from bottom spot with just three games left in the campaign.

Lee Roche was included in the starting line-up  alongside first teamers Walters, Dave Bayliss, Levi Mackin, Mike Williams and Michael Jones, as the second string bounced back from Monday evening's defeat to Chester City.

Roche played a little short of an hour before being replaced by Andy Fleming, while Walters was going to see out thew full 90 minutes until a high kick caught him in the same place that Grimsby's Rob Jones fouled him last Saturday.

Holding his ribs, the striker limped to the sidelined on 80 minutes, allowing youngster Alex Darlington to replace him for the final period of the match.

The Seasiders then brought on Keith Brady for his debut, a supporter who had won an auction to be in the squad and had trained with Blackpool for the last few days!
