WREXHAM U18s kept up their great start to the new campaign with a hard fought 1-0 success over visitors Walsall at Colliers Park today.

In a game that saw few chances at either end, it was a Mark Stewart goal with just 10 minutes remaining that decided the outcome.

The striker combined with substitute Obi Anoruo, taking a pass threaded through the visitors' defence, before being able to finish from a tight angle.

There was a let off late in the first half, when a loose ball inside the Wrexham penalty box was somehow blocked on several occasions before a wild shot saw it put safely behind for a goal kick.

Both keepers made one save of any note in the second half, that was until the deciding goal.

With three wins and a draw from their opening four matches, the young Reds retain their top of the table position.

Wrexham: Chris Maxwell, Jamie Price, John Hunt, Lee Jones, Chris Marriott, Tom Matischok (Kai Edwards), George Stewart, Mat Hurdman (Jack Jones), Mark Head (Obi Anoruo), Mark Stewart, Paul Williams.
