THE Youth team travelled over to the Wirral this morning to take on Tranmere Rovers at their training ground near Clatterbridge Hospital.

After taking a lead early in the match, the home side levelled from the penalty spot before the break.

The goal which put us in front was a candidate for' Goal of the Month' when Matty Hurdman volleyed home from 30-yards with an unstoppable effort.

Steve Cooper was more than happy to return with a point: "After they drew level, we were under the cosh for the rest of the half and lucky to go in without conceding again.

"After the break we were better and had a couple of chances ourselves, the best of which fell to Luke Carden, who should have scored with a header.

"Overall though, a point was a good return."
